What is a fanzine?A fanzine is a short magazine created by fans, usually focused on a particular topic or theme. This fanzine focuses on the lingering relationships formed between Frieren and her companions.What is Frieren?Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is an anime and manga exploring the life of the main character, Frieren, as she traces the steps of the journey she took fifty years before to defeat the Demon King.What is this zine's theme?This zine seeks to explore the resonance of characters and themes in Frieren.For example, Stark has a similar backstory to Eisen, with similar themes of overcoming cowardice, but he is allowed to be his own character and address those themes in a different manner. In the same way, Fern is a lot like Frieren, but with very human desires. Frieren herself resonates with Himmel, as a mentor leading her group through the same journey she went on with Himmel while taking on odd side quests, but she also resonates with Serie in saying that she wouldn't take on an apprentice and then doing so (with a specifically human apprentice, continuing the elf -> human -> elf -> human cycle that Serie unintentionally set up when she taught Flamme). Even the idea that the priest in the party is always a drunk feels cyclical in nature.This is not to say that all pieces should be a compare/contrast or a mirroring between characters, but that we want to explore the way so much of Frieren resonates within itself.Is this fanzine SFW?This fanzine will be SFW.Will this zine contain spoilers for the anime?

The zine will allow content from anything within the first two seasons of the anime.Will this fanzine include content from the manga that hasn't been adapted to the anime?This will be determined by our Interest Check, but the hope is that manga content will be allowed.Will ships be allowed?Yes.Will this fanzine be digital or physical?This will be a digital only zine.Will this zine be free?This will be determined by our Interest Check. If there is enough interest, we hope for this zine to be for charity.How old should someone be to apply?Mods must be at least 18 years old on the date that mod applications close: July 31, 2026.Contributors must be at least 18 years old on the date that contributor applications close: October 16, 2026.What positions will be available, and how many of each will you accept?We will be accepting Page Artists, Writers, and Merch Artists, as well as selecting one of our Page Artists to design the cover.How many of each position we accept will be determined by our Interest Check.Will you accept alternate forms of media, like music, comics, or cosplay?Yes.Can someone apply for multiple roles?Yes, but you will only be accepted for one.Will there be any guests for the zine?This will be determined by the Interest Check.Will collaborations between contributors be allowed?Yes.I have a question that isn't answered here!Feel free to ask other questions through our Tumblr, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Rules

1. Mods must be 18+ by the time mod applications close on July 31, 2026, and contributors must be 18+ by the time contributor applications close on October 16, 2026.
2. All pieces must be original. AI and plagiarism are not allowed. You are also not allowed to reuse an old piece in the zine.
3. Treat everyone with respect and consideration. Don't be rude about other people's opinions or pitches. Common courtesy, please.
4. No NSFW content is allowed.
5. A Discord account is required, as all major communication will be there. You do not need to be super active, just pay attention to announcements, updates, and check-ins.
6. Do not share any content from the zine outside the Discord server without permission.
